Optimizing the Use of Technology for Student Achievement |
July 18 |
8:30 AM to 3:30 PM |
FREE | Spending dwindling dollars to fund digital tools and resources for Delaware classrooms has often fueled the question, "What impact does technology use have on student achievement?" Though most are familiar with conventional best practices and their association with improved academic progress, few are aware of an expanding body of research linking effective technology use with student performance on high stakes tests such as the DSTP. Digital Age Best Practices refer to an established set of instructional strategies that have demonstrated a statistically-significant impact on student achievement and are aligned with 21st Century Skills and Themes. The Digital Age Best Practices include:
This workshop focuses on how your district or school can leverage these digital age best practices on your campus to turn up the H.E.A.T. (Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authentic connections, Technology use) on student learning and academic progress. Participants will critique the use of the Digital Age Best Practices in different K-12 classroom settings, conduct classroom walkthroughs based on the tenets of H.E.A.T., and generate a set of S.M.A.R.T. Goals surrounding the use of best practices on their respective campuses. All participants will be given access to an online resource site in which to download sample Gold-Seal lesson plans, benchmark assessments and interventions, scoring guides, and walkthrough forms as well as a year's subscription to the Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. web application for their iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch to turn up the H.E.A.T. on their campus.
