Web-based Professional Development

eLearning Delaware uses a Web-based model to provide effective professional development opportunities that lead to gains in teachers’ content knowledge, improvements in their teaching practices, and an increase in the achievement levels of their students.

Take A Cluster

Prior to the moratorium placed on clusters, eLearning Delaware offered nine (9) Skills and Knowledge Professional Development clusters. For more information on each cluster, click on the links below.

Lead A Course

eLearning Delaware courses are led by Delaware educators who have been trained as online course facilitators. Over the past four years, eLDE has trained 61 facilitators.

Online Professional Development Specialist Training (Facilitators)

Facilitating and Implementing Online Professional Development, a ten-week online training course, prepares teams of participants to be Online Professional Development Specialists. These online specialists learn to facilitate online workshops and to integrate online learning into ongoing professional development programs. The ten-session course includes online readings, Web-based activities, facilitated online discussions and a final project, where participants complete a plan for delivering an online workshop for teachers and/or administrators. Because this course is delivered online, participants are able to experience the online classroom as learners, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the online environment.

Develop A Course

eLearning Delaware has trained 32 online course developers whose role is to develop online courses specific to Delaware needs. The first set of courses that eLearning Delaware online course developers have developed are the online courses that are part of the Understanding the Delaware Recommended Curriculum series of clusters. eLDE is currently working with WHYY to create video that will support the science curriculum and using that video in the development of online middle school science courses.

Online Course Design and Delivery Specialist Training

Online Course Design and Delivery, a ten-week online training course, prepares teams of participants to be Online Course Design and Delivery Specialists who design and deliver online courses for local teachers and/or administrators. The ten session online course includes online readings, Web-based activities, facilitated online discussions, and specific training to develop an online course for your organization.

For more information on how to become involved in eLearning Delaware, please contact us at whartschuh@doe.k12.de.us. NOTE: eLDE currently does not have any facilitator or course developer training planned because the Federal Ready to Teach grant ends September 30, 2010.
